We got punk rockers As We Fall, Starting Monday and Fiveash to compile a mixtape of their fave punk and hard rock songs from Aussie bands ahead of their POP PUNK VS METAL gig on Sun 8 October, at Rad Bar.
As We Fall
As We Fall are a punk band from Western Sydney. The five members, Dylan, Jarrod, Luis, Nick and John all came together through a passion for playing music. Heavily influenced by bands such as Trophy Eyes, Neck Deep and Violent Soho, As We Fall has developed their own unique style of music.
Song 1: Daydreamer – Trophy Eyes
This is one of my favourite tracks off the album Chemical Miracle.
Song 2: Covered In Chrome – Violent Soho
Because it’s a cracker – Luis
Song 3: Raindrop – Columbus
I’ve chosen this song because it’s Columbus’ best song
We are Starting Monday, a four-piece punk rock band from the South Coast of NSW Australia. We’ve been around for almost a year now, playing gigs around the Illawarra and up in Sydney, we’re always trying to keep busy with playing gigs, practising constantly. We’re also currently working hard on our first EP and film clip. Our music has a very diverse range of influences coming from each band member, going from classical hard rock and thrash metal, to punk rock and hardcore, with much more in between. We tend to mix it up a bit by adding a level of unique sound to each song to keep it fresh and interesting.
Song 1: Scott Green – Dune Rats
Dune Rats have been rising in popularity recently, and have been extremely influential with their mix of stoner pop and punk rock, so we decided to choose one of their biggest hits for our first choice.
Song 2: How To Taste – Violent Soho
Soho are one of the biggest Aussie bands around at the moment and we take some influence from them. While on the heavier and more rock side they clearly have many punk characteristics within their music that we very much enjoy.
Song 3: Little Miss Perfect – Ride For Rain
Ride For Rain are good friends of ours and hectic punk rockers that we’ve had an awesome time gigging with. We’re big
fans of their fast and energetic punk sound so we decided to choose one of their tracks for our third pick.
We’re called Fiveash, a new emo pop-punk band from Western Sydney. We are sad boys who write sad songs, however, we still like to input lots of energy and fun into the music we write. Think Trophy Eyes mixed Real Friends mixed Knuckle Puck.
Song 1: Coffee At Midnight – Stand Atlantic
Been a fan of STAT for a while and this track is just so full of energy and gets the feels going. When it first came out I listened to it on repeat, the chorus is catchy and the band are just cool people too.
Song 2: London Lights – With Confidence
Another band I’ve been a fan of for a while now, London Lights was a song that I immediately got hooked on. It’s catchy jam and lyrically it’s beautiful. With Con are one of my favourite Australian bands and lyrically I take inspiration from the heart-on-sleeve style and emotion.

Song 3: Temperamental – Undercast
The song is such a high-energy song with great lyrics and its fun as hell. The band also put on a great live show, definitely a great local act.
