We’re a four-piece indie rock band from Adelaide called The New Yorks, who create aggravating-neighbour rock and enjoy watching Cheers. Check out our new single We Enjoy This Too Much.

Song 1: The Horses – Daryl Braithwaite
To begin our mixtape, we had to come out with a true Australian tune. Like John Howard said: “This one is a banger”.

Song 2: Step Up The Morphine – DMA’s
This song flows so beautifully. Hills End has a lot of great tracks, but this one is a personal favourite of ours.

Song 3: Endless Party – The Cherry Dolls
Such a good act coming out of Melbourne. Love their music, gives me indie rock vibes that I don’t really feel as much from Australian acts anymore. The nonchalance of The Strokes but sugary guitar melodies like early Arctic Monkeys tunes.

Song 4: Am I In Heaven? – King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard
This song takes about ten different turns in seven minutes.

Song 5: How To Make Gravy – Paul Kelly
This is an obvious one, the man is one of the greatest Australian songwriters around. Paul Kelly actually went to our highschool in Adelaide.

Song 6: I’m Into You – Nick Murphy
The band supported him when we were younger, the guy is a creative genius. We were talking to him about going home and finishing our English essays the next day, while he was due to fly in and work with Flume.

Song 7: Bad Guys – Bleeding Knees Club
BADDDDDDDD GUYS….. woah.

Song 8: Sunday To Sunday – The VANNS
Dayum, these guys are cool. Again, giving such good indie rock vibes. We played alongside these guys at Rocket Bar just over a year ago and their live shows are tasty as.

Song 9: Gurzle – Psychedelic Porn Crumpets
Generally a great track, addictive guitar parts. Really looking forward to seeing them next month when they are in Adelaide.

Song 10: Elevator Operator – Courtney Barnett
Carlos, our bassist, is a huge fan of hers. One of the best sets we have caught her play was at Splendour In The Grass last year. She is an everyday lyricist.
